Through years of analytical experience CS Solutions have gained extensive knowledge and expertise in the running and interpretation of analytical data, especially concerning small organic molecules. We can help develop analytical methods and techniques to provide you with data to prove chemical structures (e.g. multi-nuclear NMR, MS (including MALDI), UV-Vis and IR spectroscopy) or to provide purity data (e.g. TLC, HPLC, elemental analysis, UV-Vis, melting point).
Where you may need help elucidating structures of products, intermediates or impurities, we can offer this as part of our service. We can also synthesise impurities to prove structure beyond doubt and provide reference samples for future analysis. We have already identified and synthesized pure samples of derived impurities used to identify and characterize pharmaceutical impurities for our customers. Let us help you.
CS solutions have two, in-house Agilent HPLC machines, including a state-of-the-art Agilent 1260 Infinity with a Diode Array Detector (DAD) and a refractive index detector (RID) to allow for full analysis.
On our HPLC machines we can develop chromatographic methods to separate impurities from your product. Using the DAD we can determine the best wavelengths to investigate and where several coloured compounds are present (and have strong absorbency outside of the UV spectrum) we will look at and report at the most appropriate wavelengths for your particular mixtures.
Water soluble dyes? No problem! We can develop methods for sulfonated dyes using buffers to ensure retention on the column and the separation of mixtures.
Any paid for methods developed under our research contract will be passed directly to the customer for future reference and use in-house if required.
CS Solutions will also offer you an analysis service for batch-to-batch analysis in order to maintain batch quality between suppliers.
We can measure the λmax of your products, determine the absorbances of quantities of material and calculate their strengths against standards. We can also measure % transmission.
Multi-nuclear NMR Spectroscopy
CS Solutions have access to state-of-art NMR equipment, including 300, 500 and 600 MHz spectroscopy. We routinely run 1H, 19F, 13C NMR in both 1D and 2D experiments, interpreting data to determine structure and purity of organic molecules.
We can quickly obtain ES positive and negative spectra for your compounds and regularly use MALDI to identify parent mass ions.
Often used not only to confirm the purity of samples but also to estimate the strength of compounds containing inorganic salts, such as sodium chloride.
Thin Layer Chromatography
Still the go to technique to rapidly identify the purity of a single compound or estimate the number of components in a mixture. We often use this technique prior to using HPLC to quickly determine the overall purity and optimum wavelengths (in terms of visible coloured components) to run initial purity measurements on the DAD. Our chemists have the experience and knowledge to develop methods for compounds ranging from polar dyes to non-polar organic molecules.
CS Solutions have in-house digital melting point apparatus to measure melting points from 40 degrees to 250 degrees Celsius. An excellent technique to determine the purity of pure samples.
